‘Just Me ’N’ You’ is J. R. Bailey’s soul masterpiece – reminscent of the best work by the soul greats – and is set for high quality reissue by the taste makers at Be With Records

UK label Be With Records are very busy right now – with soul album reissues alongside their promised double album revive of the great South African artist, Caiphus Semenya – another one to look forward to is J.R. Bailey’s Just Me ’N’ You.

Originally released by MAM Records in 1974, it’s a jazzy soul album in a similar style to Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, with stirring performances, orchestrations and chord progressions. Fans of Marvin, Leon Ware, Donny Hathaway, Leroy Hutson and Willie Hutch will also love the work of James Ralph Bailey.

The original productions were made on a basic home tape machine and enhanced with strings, rhythmic overdubs and a variety of other instrumentation. Strings, jazzy horns, a Latin feel with congas, vibraphone and harmonica all provide the groovy foundation that sets off the beauty of J.R.’s voice.

Mastered by Simon Francis, cut by Pete Norman and pressed at Record Industry, this Be With edition of Just Me ’N’ You promises to sound amazing and provides a perfect opportunity to own an underrated album of legendary status.
