
Kamazu & Esa have produced a future classic that is out in September on Esa’s own AWEH music and is entitled Shukuma. London based South African, Esa Williams, continues his evolution of his homeland’s music – this time reviving Kamazu and his kwaito brilliance – on an original EP out in September.
Title track Shukuma, blends future-kwaito-inspired elements with acid house and pays homage to the electronic South African genre of the late 80s and early 90s and its profound connection to Chicago house music.

The release boasts another future kwaito classic, Muntu, that also showcases innovative contributions from Potugal-based produced Dirty Bungalow – and has been featured in the esteemed podcast series, The Invisible Hand:

Esa has collaborated with artists and friends Floating B_strd and Sanoy on a piece of artwork that will be unveiled on the official release day.
Through his residency at Worldwide FM, Esa has shared amazing tales that go with the music he curates. He has also worked on educational programmes in Africa and South-America, before playing a leading role in reviving Ata Kak and bringing together their already legendary band as conductor and producer.

Kamazu hails from the township of Soweto, Johannesburg. His earlier work includes some of the best kwaito to ever grace vinyl and are collectors’ items, some of which were compiled by the Afrosynth label in 2019.
