New ‘With Love’ selection by Miche again features soul at its finest for Mr Bongo – ‘As’ by Julius Brockington’s The Family Tree is a taster

The Family Tree’s version, of the Stevie Wonder classic As, is the second single to preview the forthcoming Mr Bongo compilation – With Love: Volume 2, compiled by Miche. The compiler came to prominence working at the audiophile venue Spiritland in London – he’s known for his musical knowledge and the programming role enabled the selector to be inspired, gather further a range of modern soul artifacts from collectors galore and ‘the knowledge’.

It’s 12 months since the release of Volume One in the With Love series, Miche has again chosen 15 rare soul tracks of independently released music. The first volume was released through Mr Bongo, as well as that forthcoming, so Miche is in good company there also with some of the most passionate and accomplished people in the business.

“I’m so happy to have been able to officially license this sublime gospel cover of As by Julius Brockington and his band, The Family Tree,” he says.

“Many people will automatically think of the Family Tree band that released an eponymous disco anthem, but this is a different Family Tree out of Baltimore, Maryland. I met Julius’ daughter last year and we both agreed that this version needed to be a part of the With Love series.”

More tales to come with the official release, here’s some promo from Volume 1:

The new compilation drops October 6th on vinyl, CD and digital formats.
