Isle of Jura to release second ‘Transmissions’ compilation packed full of rarities once again

The Isle Of Jura label flourishes more and more with every release  – with the Jura Soundsystem wowing listeners with globally informed selections and connoisseur-friendly reissues, alongside its sub label Temples Of Jura releasing original work. Their most recent reissue of Yvonne Archer’s Ain’t Nobody – a lovers rock redo of the Chaka Khan anthem – saves collectors a fortune and is a great pressing with some crucial new artwork to boot.

Next month, the label drops the second in a series of compilations by Jura Soundsystem (with label head Kevin Griffiths at the controls) and brings together selections that are previously unreleased on vinyl (CD only cuts for example), as well as in-demand out of print titles. The comp’ complements the first volume – a World Treasures Music favourite – and tours a number of genres again – “moving fluidly through ambient, electro, dub house, slow disco and library music before ending with some star gazing esoteric cuts,” Kevin says.

Transmission Two is bookended by Carl Craig, whose C Beams Glitter has never before been released on vinyl, and the actor Jeff Bridges, who provides a perfect finale with a message of personal empowerment set to the music of Ivor Novello winning soundtrack composer Keefus Ciancia,” Kevin adds.

“In between you’ll find Aphex Twin protégé Bochum Welt, John Rocca of Freeez and Pink Rhythm, library music aficionado’s Daniele Patucchi and David Arch, a Jura Soundsystem edit of Sapho, Hitman from the Philly World music stable, Hirini Melbourne (a Maori composer, poet and Author) and a beautiful previously unreleased song from Zann.”

This Double LP includes artwork from long standing designer Bradley Pinkerton. It’s another essential selection for fans of weird grooves, Balearic stompers and wall banging chuggers. Highest recommendation on this one.

Isle of Jura also reissued Zann’s Inside Jungle LP at the end of last year. Here’s one cut:

A previous reissue in 2019 of Bella Vista’s Mister Wong also shows Jura Soundsytem’s skill for re-editing:
