Musical polymath Jeff Parker – once of the iconic Chicago group Tortoise – has dropped his second single Go Away to more critical acclaim, following the release of the LP Suite for Max Brown the International Anthem label. He joins good company indeed with recent albums by Jaimie Branch, Junius Paul, Angel Bat Dawid, Makaya McCraven and Resavoir for the stable.
The new full-length follow-up on January 24th follows his critically lauded 2016 International Anthem LP The New Breed.
Suite for Max Brown is a companion piece to The New Breed, which The Guardian honored as ‘the Best Jazz Album of the Year,’ the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times included on their ‘Best Albums of 2016’ lists and recently, Aquarium Drunkard included it on their ‘Best Albums of the Decade’ 2010-2019 compendium. Jeff Parker plays electric guitar, vocals and sampler on Go Away, and produced alongside Paul Bryan, who also bass guitar and vocals; and features Makaya McCraven on drums.
