Colombian producers La Jungla and El Dragón Criollo drop their versions of cumbia and zouk heat – out today on Spain’s El Palmas Music – cut on a solid 7″ by The Carvery

Producers El Dragón Criollo and La Jungla split a double a-side single to interpret their native Colombia and its Caribbean coastal flavours – it’s out today from the El Palmas Music label in Barcelona – on 7″ vinyl and digital. Both are cuts for the discerning dancefloor and bring modern and dynamic sounding versions of zouk and cumbia stylings.

El Dragón Criollo is the solo project of Paulo Olarte Toro (Banana Sound Cartel, Acid Coco) and Je Pense À Toi sounds like a heady mix of soundsystem bass music and the superb Antillean pop and zouk of the Caribbean. The fusion of culture and music found in Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Dominica, and Haiti circulates that entire region. Based in Geneva, Toro is an established house and minimal producer, but here returns to making tropical music primed for the clubs.

Fellow Colombian, La Jungla’s first release hits all the right cumbia cues from the intro, an apt introduction to the outfit’s Caribbean cadences and invocations of Afro-Colombian heritage.

The La Jungla / El Dragón Criollo 7” was mastered and cut at The Carvery in the UK – so sounds great – and is released by Barcelona-based El Palmas Music.
