Kondi Band collab’ with Chief Boima and Will LV for essential dose of Freetown freestyle for the Strut label – listen to new single from LP out September

We’re absolutley loving the summer vibes of She Doesn’t Love You ft Mariama by the pride of Sierra Leone, the Kondi Band. The iconic Strut label will be releasing the single on their long-awaited forthcoming sophomore album We Famous on September 24th.

First single She Doesn’t Love You features the exceptional talents of Sierra Leonian singer-songwriter, Mariama Jalloh, who helps serve up an infectious slice of Afro-pop, Sierra Leone style and we can hear Kondi Band’s sound embracing wider dance styles.

Kondi Band is a collaboration between LA-based producer Chief Boima, London’s Will LV and Sorie Kondi, a blind musician living in Freetown, Sierra Leone, playing a custom-made 15-pin thumb piano: the kondi.

Following on from their acclaimed Salone album in 2016 and the single Yeanoh, the new recordings further hone the group’s unique fusions of Sorie Kondi’s rich vocals, the kondi thumb piano and dancefloor electronics – fusing Afro-pop, dub effects and disco into the mix.

The forthcoming album We Famous was recorded over four years, hooking up with Sorie during breaks in touring in Belgium, Spain and Canary Islands with the main production collaboration honed between Chief Boima in Los Angeles and Will LV in London.
