The new album from Koki Nakano is a beautiful production – Pre-Choreographed is out today and is the second release from the Japanese neoclassical pianist – issued through his label home Nø Førmat! (also a stable to Oumou Sangaré and Mélissa Laveaux).
Album track Bloomer features Japanese choreographer Mariko Kakizaki and was shot on location in Israel’s Negev Desert.
Nakano was trained at the Tokyo University of the Arts and was spotted by Nø Førmat! label founder Laurent Bizot when he performed at Tokyo’s Maison de la Culture in 2014. It continues the label’s releases of contemporary pianists, which begun back in 2010 when Nø Førmat! issued Chilly Gonzales’ pivotal Solo Piano. Nakano’s music and his synthesis with various art forms is receiving increasing critical acclaim.
