New Sahel Sounds ‘desert psychedelia’ and interview

It’s a busy time for Sahel Sounds and founder Christopher Kirkley. His fantastic record label goes from strength to strength. He’s about to release a film likened to a version of Purple Rain – set deep in the Saharan desert, with the sensational musician and seemingly natural actor, Mdou Moctar. Heavy fusion dance music from Turkey

New out on Honest Jon’s Records. A heady mix of glitchy, deep house and folk guitar parts more characteristic of the country of origin during the breakdown. Plus, the vocals are pure class. A modern classic in the making. This comes with two remixes by Chilean heavyweight producer, Ricardo Villalobos. It’s all about the 23 minute…

Check…

    Classic Italo reissue…soon

Radio Band’s Radio Rap is dropping this month. This video is pretty surreal with some unsettling characters, but the track was a cult record on the Chicago scene in the 1980s and was a favourite of top don DJ Ron Hardy. Prices for the original record have been pretty steep on Discogs in the past.
