More stunning musicianship from Mali’s Ballaké Sissoko – Nø Førmat! share new video from ‘Djourou’ album – with Segal and Messina helping to pay tribute to composer, Hector Berlioz

Enlighten yourselves and listen to another track from the Djourou album by Malian kora player Ballaké Sissoko – here on Jeu Sur La Symphonie Fantastique, Ballaké is joined by cellist and collaborator Segal, with clarinettist Messina, for a re-working of the Berlioz piece of the same name.

Suggested by the Berlioz Festival to mark the 150th anniversary of the composer’s death, Ballaké’s new version takes Symphonie Fantastique on an epic journey along the banks of the Niger river.

The realisation of Jeu Sur La Symphonie Fantastique began when the Berlioz Festival (held annually in France) invited Ballaké to create a piece to mark the 150th anniversary of Hector Berlioz’s passing.
